So One Day, We Were In a Pandemic…

We get it. This has been really hard for you and your families. From what we understand it’s only going to become more challenging in the Fall when school starts. How are you going to manage your own work schedule, the kids’ school schedules and keep it all together? That’s where AFDS can help.

We are please to announce we are offering our AFDS families an exclusive opportunity for a school day length (8-3pm) programs for children 1st grade and up, if and when they are not in person at school.

While we know this is a challenging time for everyone, our mission and goal with this program is to provide a safe, fun and organized place for our dancers to come during the day in the event you find yourself needing help during the day.

Whether you are a family with working parents and need safe supervision for your children during the day or working from home and need some time to get things done without those cute little humans distracting you, you need responsible adults to help your children get their homework or virtual classes done. A Fine is your answer.

What’s included

We will structure each day to have periods of time for “homework” and school related topics. Each child will bring their electronic device and a pair of headphones with them. This way when we are doing work they have a quiet environment to focus in. The kids with specific scheduling needs will have a written schedule to follow so they don’t miss their required virtual classes.  For example if your child has a mandatory live zoom class at 10:30am we will make he/she is in a dedicated quiet zone and logged in and participating in that class. You won’t have to worry about stopping your day and logging them in and monitoring them. We will do it while you stay focused on work.

The older the group the more time we will have for homework flexibility. This way when they get home they have time to spend with the family or on other activities other than homework.

We’ll incorporate movement and nutrition into the day as well too that kids will be strongly encouraged to participate in because well let’s face it, no one wants to be in front of the computer all day, right?

Students should dress comfortably and in layers so that if they are cold they have something to put on likewise take off if they are warm. We will of course use our HVAC system and open the windows on nice days but everyone tolerates temperature differently.

Kids will have ample opportunity to work on homework with adult supervision.

Each child will bring:

  • Water bottle & Lunch (no peanut products) – LABEL THESE
  • Electronic Device to be used IF they have virtual commitments – LABEL PLEASE
  • Headphones to help keep a quiet and focused environment – LABEL PLEASE
  • Any other school materials they need to work on or with
    • We will have smaller supplies like; markers, pencils, pens, rulers, tape, etc. anything like this that we do not have we will purchase. Please give us a heads up if there are items your child needs and we will communicate if thats something we are acquiring or if you need to send it. All of these supplies will be disinfected thoroughly after each use.

Is it Safe?

Our AFDS families know we are going above and beyond the board of health and state guidelines for cleaning and they can trust us to keep everyone safe.

We will be doing everything in our power to prevent the transmission of COVID within our facility.

  • Temperature checks
  • Hand-sanitizer stations
  • Frequent cleaning of high-touch areas
  • Wearing masks and shields

Our plan is to have no more than 7-9 children in each group. Each group would be a mixture of grades depending on how many of each grade participate. We would have 1-2 teachers with younger children and 1 teacher with older children.

We will be checking temperatures, wearing masks, and cleaning as if our lives depend upon it…because they do!

How Does It Work?

You simply tell us the days of the week you need and if you are on the hybrid schedule at school or if you are going remote/virtual for school. This helps us understand what level of supervision for your children and then we can handle the rest. Also, very important we need to know what grades your children are entering this fall (2020). Use this registration form (1 per child) to get us the correct info. We will contact you to confirm everything once we receive your registration form.

If you need extended hours after 3pm it’s just $5/hour. This will be waived for dancers enrolled in the afternoon AFDS dance program for that same day.

AUGUST 20th:

FULL COMMITMENT BY DAY: You choose which day(s) each week and we schedule your child for the entire month on those days of the week only. This is also for children in school districts that the hybrid schedule has them in school the same 2 days every week… Meaning they need supervision the other 2-3 days every single week for the month.

AUGUST 30th:

EVERYONE ELSE: Registration opens for those with other needs that don’t fit the two main options and require more of a known drop in schedule. Basically anyone who needs random dates may register after the other two groups have had their chance. For example you need supervision on 1 random Monday and 1 random Thursday the entire month.

PLEASE NOTE: Once enrolled you will have to tell us by the 20th of each month if you want to cancel for the next month. If you don’t notify us in writing by the 20th that you wish to cancel we will assume that you want the exact same schedule for the following month.   If we do not hear from you, we will take that as confirmation of moving forward with the next month of dates per your confirmation email. So if you need to make changes we must be notified in writing by the 20th. Charges for the following month will be put through on the 21st and there are no refunds or credits once charged.

For example: Say you enroll for September in Monday & Wednesday HYBRID option so every other week depending on A or B weeks. We charge you only the HYBRID September tuition for Monday and Wednesdays and then on or by September 20th you’ll have to tell us if you want to do October HYBRID option again. If you do not contact us or reply to our email we will enroll you again for the exact same option. This allows us time to restructure groups if necessary for the next month.
